Thank You!

What a year it has been! 2015-2016 has been an eventful year at Derry CoderDojo. We’ve been involved in some world-class events including DojoCon 2015, BBC Make It Digital and Social Saturday. We hosted some great events of our own: Summer Family Fun Day, Halloween Code Camp and Hour Of Code. We’ve also had some awesome sessions at University of Ulster from celebrating women in tech on Ada Lovelace Day, learning about online safety with NSPCC and most recently working towards earning Google CS First certificates. All of our ninjas have come along so well over the past twelve months and we are so proud of each and every one of them. Well done kids!

In preparation for the new school year, we were fundraising so that we can renew our insurance and possibly purchase some new tech kit for the kids to use in September. Thank you to everyone who contributed to our fund Рtogether we raised £315!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who we have worked with over the past 12 months including Ulster University, NSPCC, Business In The Community NI, Social Saturday co-ordinators, STEMAware, BBC Make It Digital, Eighty81, CultureTECH, The CoderDojo Foundation, BBC Radio Foyle, Triax and Creggan Neighbourhood Partnership.

Thank you to all our volunteers – without you we would not be able to keep the dojo running. Thank you for giving up your time and energy to help us this year. Please keep checking our Basecamp for mentor updates over the summer and we should have a meet-up at some stage to plan 2016-2017.

Finally, thank you to all our ninjas and their parents for getting involved this year. We hope you have learned a lot about coding with us and we can’t wait to see you all again in September.

We will continue to be active on social media and will be sending out regular email newsletters so stay tuned for plenty more coding activities that you can be working on over the summer. If you’ve finished your next CS First projects, check out our Resources page for more things to work on.

Enjoy summer!
